About This Tool
The Tip Calculator is a free online tool that helps you calculate the appropriate tip amount for any bill and split the total evenly between multiple people. It supports five preset tip percentages (10%, 15%, 18%, 20%, 25%) as well as a custom percentage field for any amount you choose.
The calculator updates in real time as you type — there is no button to press. It shows the tip amount, grand total (bill + tip), your per-person share of the tip, and your per-person share of the grand total.
How to Use
- Enter the total bill amount in the Bill Amount field.
- Select a preset tip percentage (10%, 15%, 18%, 20%, 25%) or choose Custom and enter your own.
- Set the number of people splitting the bill using the Number of People field.
- The tip amount, grand total, tip per person, and total per person update instantly.

- What is a standard tip percentage? — 15% is considered standard; 18–20% reflects good service; 25% or more is for exceptional service.
- Does the tip calculate on the pre-tax amount? — The tool calculates on whatever amount you enter. For pre-tax tipping, enter only the subtotal before tax.
- Can I split the bill unevenly? — This tool splits evenly. For uneven splits, enter each person's share manually as a separate bill amount.
